The 49th Chief of the Supply Corps Visits NAVSUP Fleet


MANAMA, Bahrain – Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain hosted Rear Adm. Peter Stamatopoulos, Commander of NAVSUP and 49th Chief of the Supply Corps, and Kurt Wendelken, Vice Commander of NAVSUP on their official visit to the 5th Fleet Area of Operations (AOO).

Stamatopoulos visited military facilities throughout the Kingdom of Bahrain, where he received theater and operational briefs pertaining to the work being done around the AOO.

“I am always excited to return to Bahrain, where fleet sustainment and operations come together,” Stamatopoulos stated. “NAVSUP FLC Bahrain plays a vital role in sustaining our forces in the AOO. I am extremely proud of the hard work, dedication, and superb efforts Captain Wallace and his team have been flawlessly executing.”

During his visit at NSA Bahrain, Stamatopoulos took time to meet with FLC Bahrain personnel, as well as Supply Corp Officers stationed in Bahrain. During his meeting with the officers, he stated the importance of having a continued presence in this part of the world and the unwavering personnel support to ensure mission success. He highlighted the bigger picture as it applies to first tour division officers all the way to the flag officer level. In addition, Stamatopoulos met with FLC Bahrain senior civilian personnel. He discussed how their contributions are key to NAVSUP’s mission. All members involved were grateful for the time with the Commander, and proud to be making an impact for the NAVSUP enterprise.

FLC Bahrain provided Stamatopoulos multiple AOO overviews included a Port of Duqm, Oman capabilities brief provided by Lt. Cmdr. Andrew Krantz, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Bahrain Liaison to US Embassy Muscat, Oman. Krantz provided a detailed brief of how the Oman Detachment is supporting NAVSUP’s mission partners and stakeholders.

Wallace was extremely proud of the work ethic demonstrated by his Team during the visit. “It was a tremendous opportunity for our team to show our Commander and NAVSUP leadership just how awesome they are. Stamatopoulos commented on FLC Bahrain’s outstanding performance during the recent 2022 command inspection. The day-to-day preparations, professionalism, expertise, and execution displayed by all FLC Bahrain personnel was eye-watering.” Wallace further stated, “I am sure this trip fueled everyone, to include our visitors, to continue to press towards excellence and Get Real Get Better.”
