Cost of shipping fireworks goes up, families still looking to

Families may not notice the cost of fireworks going up, but some Upstate suppliers do. “The cost has increased because of shipping. I don’t think the fireworks and selves — they’ve gone up a little bit, you know maybe 10%, but the shipping is what’s driven the cost, and that’s what’s controlling it right now,” said Charlie Pulcine of Charlie’s Fireworks in Travelers Rest, who stresses all customers enjoy fireworks safely, “It’s gun powder — it can hurt you. Read the instructions if you’ve never done it before.” Fireworks rules:City of GREENVILLE: Fireworks are not to be discharged in areas outside of city limits in Greenville County between 11 p.m. and 10 a.m. except on New Year’s Eve and Independence Day, when they can be shot until 1 a.m. Each violation is punishable by a $100 fine.To report someone violating the fireworks noise ordinance, call non-emergency police at 864-271-5333.City of SPARTANBURG: It’s unlawful for anyone to sell, store, maintain transport or have in their possession any type or form of fireworks. City of ANDERSON: Fireworks are not allowed in the city limits unless it is an event approved by city council. Fireworks are allowed in Anderson County. You must be at least 16 years old to purchase fireworks in the state of South Carolina.
